Exploration into Gaia, Her Truth Revealed!
written by Kesh Brown
Gaia is a mystery and the magic of Life.
There are numerous stories, myths, musings, and schools of thought surrounding who or what Gaia is, is not, or perhaps ought to be. From ancient Greek Goddess, to Soul of the World, to Mother of All Life, to a scientific hypothesis used to describe the world as a single, self-regulating system, to an online streaming video service, and probably a few others we’re inadvertently omitting. Apologies. No offense intended.
That said, we’d like to offer our own thoughts on what Gaia means to us. Please understand that this is not meant to profess or promote any sort of dogma, but rather to be used as a vehicle or model for humans to talk about the ideas, concepts, and feelings surrounding some of Life’s most profound understandings.
Gaia is the collective physical energy and consciousness of everything that exists within the earth sphere. She is the earth itself, and everything upon it.
She is the mountains, the deserts, the prairies, and every polar bear wandering the frozen tundra.
She is the oceans, the rivers, and the creeks. She is the rain that fills the brooks and every tadpole that revels there.
She is the owl and she is the mouse. She is the wolf and she is the deer. Both predator and prey, all consciousness pervades her understanding.
She is the last of the wild mustangs, and the first dusting of snow falling upon their rangeland.
She is the cleverness of the crow, the speed of the jaguar, the eyes of the hawk.
She holds the wisdom of the world’s greatest thinkers as easily as she holds the beaver’s knowledge of dam building or the falcon’s skillful ability of flight.
In short, she is all of life. The totality of the biosphere.
And the facet of her she knows as human beings… are in the midst of murdering her.
